Trump rejects Marjorie Taylor Greene's unsuccessful bid to remove the Speaker, stating, 'Now is not the appropriate moment.'

Former President Donald Trump urged House Republicans not to support Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's attempt to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson, emphasizing that "this is not the time." Greene and Rep. Thomas Massie sought to bring a vote on vacating the chair, but their effort was thwarted by the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

Despite Greene's past support for Trump, he called on Republicans to set aside her motion, stating, "Right now, Republicans need to focus on combating the Radical Left Democrats and the damage they've inflicted on our country." Trump expressed admiration for Greene's spirit but stressed that the party should prioritize unity.

Trump highlighted his lead in presidential polls and expressed optimism about Republican prospects in the Senate and House. He cautioned against projecting disunity, which could be perceived as chaos and harm the party's goals.

Trump requested Republicans to vote for tabling Greene's motion, emphasizing the potential for significant victories in the near future. The House overwhelmingly supported tabling the motion, with Johnson receiving bipartisan backing.

Greene had been threatening to force a vote on removing Johnson since March, citing disagreements over government funding and foreign aid. Her resolution, labeled a motion to vacate the chair, will now undergo further consideration in the House.
